Our Wish List – Updated July 28, 2006

We wish for so many things for our children and poor neighbors – the items below are just a few of them. Some wishes require more information than we have presented here, and we will be happy to provide complete details, photos, budgets, and receipts at your request. Approximate costs are included for many items (US$1 = 40 baht).

Please note – except for books, we are unable to accept gifts-in-kind from outside of Thailand because of customs duties. However, we can purchase any items on this list within Thailand and provide receipts and photos for you.

Our most special wishes for our 220 children:

· Children’s books and picture books in Thai and primary school English and educational materials for children of all ages – any quantity

· Bicycles – 3,000 baht (US $75) each

· Barber tools (over 200 hair cuts per month!) – 20,000 baht (US$500)

· Clothes and especially undergarments, new - 3,000 baht/child (US$ 75)

· 6 large electric fans – 24,000 (US $600)

· Sports equipment (various – especially soccer, volleyball, badminton, and takaw) – 30,000 baht (US $750)

· Sponsorships for parties and festive events for our children at Mercy Centre

· Annual Party/Carnival for our children, staff, and neighbors – any amount

· After-school tutors – math, science, and English language, Thai and English speakers, especially on weekends.

· 8 writing tables and 16 chairs –30,000 baht (US $750)

· Vocational College Sponsorships. Our older boys and girls need work skills when they leave our foundation - 20,000 baht/year (US $500).

· Used pick-up truck(s)– 500,000 baht (US $12,500)

Household items:

· Bunk beds – 20,000 baht/each ($US500)

· Bedroom curtains – 40,000 baht (US $500)

· Irons and ironing boards – 12,000 baht (US $300)

Our special wishes for the 4,000 kids attending our Mercy Preschools:

Mercy Preschools Hygiene Programs 4,000 students

Mercy School Reading Program

· Our Children’s first book with Fairy Tales and magical stories - (150 baht x 4,000) - 600,000 baht (US$ 15,000)

Mercy Preschool Renovations:

· Onnuch 40 Rai Preschool - For 80 students, there are only 2 toilets. We need to retile the existing bathrooms, add 2 more toilets, and replace the piping. 250,000 baht (US $6,250)

· Sapankwen Preschool –We need to expand classroom space and re-level second floor. 80,000Baht (US $2,000)

· Sukhapibal 1 Preschool – Repainting - 130,000 baht (US $3,250)

· Bangsue Preschool – New coating of paint, new roof, gutter, and piping; window repair – 280,000 baht (US $7,000)

· Ceu Ploeng Nai preschool – Replace wood walls with cleaner, more secure cement walls; ceiling and roof repair; re-level kitchen floor. 350,000 baht (US $8750)

· Zone 9 Preschool - The school has a termite infestation. We also need to rebuild and expand to accommodate many more children. 1,800,000 Baht (US$45,000)

· Ladprow 42 Preschool – The entire building needs to be refurbished, including windows, floors, walls, ceiling, and roof with gutters. The preschool also needs a new kitchen.

· Zone 8 Preschool – The school needs new toilets, piping and tiling.

Our special wishes for the adult patients in our AIDS hospice, and the adults and children in our homecare program:

· Hospital mattresses (urgent!) 5,000 baht/each x 25 beds – 125,000 baht (US$ 3,125)

· First aid kits (500 baht/each x 200) – 100,000 baht (US$ 2,500)

· Medical supplies (gloves, disinfectant, adult diapers, etc.) – any quantity

· Clothes, used and new – any quantity

· Used van for hospital and homecare visits –500,000 baht (US$ 12,500)π

In the Community

· Emergency home repair for the elderly and indigent – 15,000 – 20,000 baht/home (US $375 - $500)

· Emergency funds for elderly and handicapped

· Cultural field trips for the poorest neighborhood children (we sponsor over 300 neighborhood children for their education) – minimum 30,000 baht (US $750)

· Community fire-fighting equipment – cisterns, wells, and pumps

· Help us host community events – holidays and pageants - Mothers Day, Songkran, and other special holidays and religious ceremonies.
